STEP 1.
The first step to acquire a driver’s permit for either a Class 1, 2 or 3 is to obtain a Provisional/Learner's Permit.
Class 1- Motor Cycle
Class 2 – Wheel Tractor
Class 3- Light Motor Vehicle The requirements to obtain a Provisional/Learner's Permit are as follows:
* You must be at least 17 years of age. If you have just turned 17, you can apply the next working day AFTER your birthday.
* Application Form No. 4 must be completed --- see the link to Licensing Office website where you can download the form.http://www.mowt.gov.tt/.../Trans.../Services/Drivers-Permits
* You must provide some proof of address - TTEC/WASA/TSTT in your name OR a Letter of Authorization and Utility Bill from the owner/parent of the property you reside at.
* A Utility Bill (as above) * You must provide two (2) forms of ID ( Identification Card and Birth Certificate) OR only a Passport if you have it.
* An Affidavit or Deed Poll (if the name on the Birth Certificate and other documents differ).
* Four (4) passport size photographs (portraits with green background). The photographs should not be taken more than six (6) months before the date of the submission of the application.
* The fees for a Provisional Permit - $35.00, Regulations - $175 and Study Guide and Highway Code - $15.00
* For a Class 2 application, an applicant, is required to complete the “Form of Medical Certificate No. 12” - see the link above to Licensing Office website where you can download the form.(Photographs are no longer required)
* Applicants are required to perform a Vision Test (When you collect your provisional/learner's permit at the Licensing Office) ***as seen in the picture above
